Update on the Reprint

I created a master shipping list that cross-references Oz, Titanic and the survey I just sent out. To complicate matters, many of you requested different things from different sources. For example, if you backed Oz, many of you requested a free Titanic deck but then under the survey you requested a replacement card and/or sticker. Then there's others who backed Oz but never backed Titanic who are requesting free Titanic decks.

I'm lucky I did this cross-reference now because I realized the 500 decks I ordered weren't going to be enough. I had to contact the printer to increase it by 150 additional decks. I caught them just time because it's schedule to print within the next 24 hours. 

With the cards reprinting tomorrow, it will still take a week or so before they are shipped to me. Keep in mind, it takes 30 to 40 days for sea shipping. I'll be doing the fulfillment myself instead of using China Division. I'm doing my best to get these to you as quickly as possible.

I sent a final survey to everyone just now via Kickstarter. This will determine what fix (if any) you would like for the Moon card. If you select the replacement deck option or if you select two options, I'll invoice your for the shipping right before shipping takes place. It's still going to be several week before they're ready to ship so I don't want people wondering if I ran off.

Printing Proof for Titanic 1.2 Are Here

Everything is coming together perfect for the correct Moon card. Here's the printing proofs. On them you'll see two Moon cards. The first one will be apart of the 78 card replacement pack. These replacement packs are free (with the exception of shipping costs) and they'll be made available within the next few days to pre-order. The second Moon card will be extracted before boxing. These extracted Moon cards will then be mailed to me along with sticker patches. Once I have them, I'll take requests from anyone wishing to have one or both these options as a possible fix.

Being that this will be printed with two Moon cards, there's the remote chance that your replacement deck pack might contain two. That's just because these extra Moon cards will be extracted by hand and I can imagine mistakes can happen. But if you get two, consider it a good luck sign. 

So, in total you'll have three possible fixes available. The entire replacement deck (cards only) will be available for a very very very very very very very very limited time. I'll be sending out a survey within the next few days. This will be your ONLY opportunity to get a free replacement deck (shipping not included). It's very limited option so I can print what I need. I don't want to have hundreds of decks printed that I don't need to print. 

The other two options will be available for a longer period of time but not forever. So, in other words, if I'm contacted a year from now I can't promise I'll still have these two fixes available. I'm a big time minimalist and don't like things sitting around.

I got the survey results in, as well as a few beat downs in the process. Here's one from Kerava Finland (based on IP address... I'm smarter than I look ha ha).... 

I wanted to address this comment before I announce the survey results and what I'll be doing. Now in regards to this comment, I don't get triggered easily unless my honesty is being questioned. I'm pretty certain I'm one of the most transparent and honest Kickstarter creators around. Not once have I lied or try to cover anything up. In fact, only after hearing about two broken boxes, I posted an update about my concerns. Likewise, I take full responsibility for the moon card error. This is the one error that I was responsible for and I plan on giving multiple choices on how you want it to be corrected. I'm even taking responsibility for things that I had absolutely no control over... from missing packages to people accidentally putting the wrong address in Backerkit. 

I appreciate the support you've all given me. It really means a lot to be able to create something with a group of amazing backers, like this group. I know some of you have been disappointed and rightfully so. But anyone that has been disappointed, I've bent over backwards to try to make things right. I don't think it's fair to have my honesty questioned. Question my trust in the fulfillment company. Question my choice of wood box manufacturers. Question my choices in the design... which that comment also does. In the end, those were my choices. Yes, I've gotten tons of suggestions about the design. I didn't ignore anyone's suggestion. I simply chose to make the deck I wanted to make. I'm very proud of how it turned out... with the exception of the moon card.

My Plan (Believe it or Not)

I'm making all options available. The moon card was my fault and I'll fix it. As I said, if you back Oz, you'll have no additional cost. Unless you order multiple Titanic decks and only one Oz deck. In which case the shipping would be drastically effected... so I would require some additional postage to offset that. For example, if you ordered three Titanic decks and only ordered on Oz deck... it would require additional postage because of the increased weight. This shouldn't be too big of an issue since most backers only order one deck.

If you don't back Oz, I'll only charge shipping costs for the new deck (estimated at $5 for USA, $20 for Canada and $25 for everyone else). I'll create a link to the Oz Bakerkit that non-backers can access to select this option. But remember, if you back Oz, then you get the replacement cards for Titanic free with no shipping charges. 

For logistical reasons, I'm going to have a small window where the Backerkit is available. I need to get a count as soon as possible so I don't over or under produce. So, once the boat has sailed... it's too late.

Since I'm doing the entire deck, there's room on the sheet to do a replacement card also. As the printer said, it will probably not be a perfect fit. I'm also having some stickers made. For those that wish to have this option, I'll send out another survey in the coming weeks to gather addresses. Why send a survey to gather addresses rather then use the addresses I already gathered, you might ask. Two reason... 1. there's several of you that provided the wrong address and 2. According to the survey, nearly half of the backers don't care if there's a fix. There's no sense wasting money on stamps for those that don't wish for a fix. 

Fulfillment

For Titanic, I know there's a small handful still waiting. I check everyday to see if there's progress. I check with Scott nearly everyday (Monday to Friday) to see if there's any progress. Scott knows exactly what's going on with the Canadian packages. They're coming. The ones not in Canada, he's currently investigating and will provide a report to me next Wednesday (Thursday). Once 90 days have lapsed, Scott and/or PayPal will discuss compensation. This compensation will help me to send you replacement decks. I currently have new wood boxes ordered at the wood box manufacturer now. You will get your reward. I can move heaven and earth to make things happen but I have no control over time. Miracles take time. 

Speaking of fulfillment, with Oz... I'm leaning heavily at doing most of the fulfillment myself. I'm 95% positive that I'll ship all the USA and Canadian orders myself. When I say myself, I mean my kids and my extended family. Ha Ha. The international orders I might still use a fulfillment service. This is because intentional shipping from the USA is very pricey. I'm 50% positive that I'll ship out the international packages. I do have a express DHL shipping add-on available for Oz.

Since I'm making more boxes for Titanic, that means I'm now doing boxes for Oz. As of right now, I'm planning on the Oz boxes being finished in a green color with a gold Oz logo on top. The color of the box is subject to change depending on how I like the results of the first one. If I don't like the green, I'll do all boxes like Titanic. The box is a $18 add-on. The Titanic boxes will still have the walnut finish as before. 

I know some people are frustrated... but let's do our best to stay positive. It's nice to be nice. But if you question my honesty, I'm going to defend myself. Questioning my honesty is like calling Marty McFly "Chicken". 

The Possible Plan - Must Read

Problem solving can be fun unless the problem involves making multiple people happy. That’s when problem solving becomes a near impossible task. Here’s my plan to make as many people happy as possible. Disclaimer: Not all of you will like my plan but that’s okay. If you don’t, tell me in the comment section how you would solve the problem. Disclaimer #2, most of these options will be entirely free to you (the backers)... there is, however, one option that I will charge shipping on. I’ll start with that option first.

Option #1 After talking with the printer, I came up with the idea of printing all 78 cards again. This will be with the same black holographic edges. It will only be the cards. Not the box and not the booklet. With this option, you can toss out the old one and replace it with this one. This option would ensure all cards are the same exact size. With this option, I would pay the printing costs since it was my fault. I will have to charge shipping because I wouldn’t be able to afford it. If you happen to back Oz, then I can ship the replacement cards with Oz.

Option #2 By printing a replacement deck, there’s room on the sheet to print one extra card. This is what I planned on doing with Oz but the printer said that an obvious size difference would be noticeable. Well, I guess we’ll test that out. If you think the size difference won’t be an issue or you think the printer is only making excuses... this option is for you. If you choose this option, I’ll mail you a replacement card. It will most likely look out of place.

Option #3 I’ll mail you a sticker to place over the spot on the moon card.

Unless, someone has a better idea... this is the best I can think of. I’m offering you three options.

As a side note, if you feel your box is unable to be fixed... don’t toss it out. I’ve only seen two that were completely destroyed. The third one could’ve been saved but it needed more work than usual. Don’t forget, these boxes, cards and boarding passes represent people. Sometimes people get broken but they can be fixed. Lately, with all the criticism, I’m feeling broken. But just like most of these boxes and other issues, I can be fixed. It’s okay to be mad. It’s okay to be disappointed. I feel the same frustrations as everyone else.
